RIP Vertie lovely Bengal.
Our ginge Dexter is a bit of a weirdo even though he’s an outdoor cat in the year he has been going out he’s never gone over our garden wall even though our other can Max does. It’s like there has been some force field stopping him making the leap of faith.
Well until yesterday... my wife thought he had disappeared for a couple of hours in the morning only for him to appear through the cat flap at 11am. In the afternoon it looks like he done it again only this time he was away for 7 hours! After panic setting in that he’d got lost and wandering the streets calling for him he rocked up at 9pm as if nothing as happened.
Phew!
Looks like he’s found his wandering legs

Gretchen.Are any of your white cats deaf by any chance? When I was a young lad, we had a white cat that was congenitally deaf. The vet told us it was common in white cats. However, I've never encountered another deaf cat though, white or otherwise.
It takes a pure white with the correct genes which can result in the deafness. Mine have a masking genetic make up so the white hides their true colour as such. Which is actually the case in the majority of white cats. Even Gwyneira with her heterochromia has great hearing.
In fact it’s mostly my white cats who will hear my car pull up and jump in to the windows waiting. I can’t even open the kitchen door without suspicion being aroused!
