Cas is sleeping the sleep of the ‘safe cat’ finally, after just over 18m of living with us
He’s no longer alert at every sound or movement; instead he’s so asleep even a stroke doesn’t move
I know Gretchen will understand this, but we didn’t realise how alert he’d been when ‘asleep’ until we see him like this now he truly gets rest
Contentment - Cas and his big feet are so appealing He’s no longer alert at every sound or movement; instead he’s so asleep even a stroke doesn’t move

Our cat doesn't like bare legs - except if you lie down on a lounger outside. Then she wants to slip on and have a snooze.
I think it is a safety thing. She knows she can relax as she is protected.
Our tabby seems to act as our protector when we're in the garden. Never sits on us inside, outside she's straight up on us, follows us around and sits alert. I think it is a safety thing. She knows she can relax as she is protected.
Our boy Oscar has had a tough 3 months.
We got him as a Rescue Cat from a Cattery charity where he'd been for six months after being brought there by Animal Welfare with his sister and a third cat. He only had a few days before he developed an eye infection (we think brought on by the stress of his move). After several weeks of it not clearing up, it took swab tests to identify exactly which infection type it was and then start to treat it. Just has he got on the right treatment he rubbed his eye off furniture (we believe) and gave himself an eye ulcer covering half his left eye meaning he couldnt open it with the pain. On with a huge buster collar and meds.
Two weeks of the vet treating it and she suggested he saw a eye specialist as it wasnt healing.
No good news there either initially and it seemed like every time we went to a vet things were getting worse (bearing in mind it was 2+ times a week for 4+ weeks by now).
She put him on a total of 9 drops a day in to the eye, requiring the two of us each time to do it.
Though we did time find to relax and make ourselves comfortable ....
That regime went on for another four weeks part of which required a procedure to remove the dead surface cells from the eye, until finally at the start of last week she gave him the all clear.
So our beautiful boy is back to full health.
So pleased for him!

Glad you and Oscar have come throug it all.
Lovely looking cat
Thanks. We were really worried for quite a few weeks. Losing the eye altogether is a possibility if things go wrong with an ulcer and they werent ruling it out as a possibility. Lovely looking cat
Hes such a loving affectionate cat too. And even with all the meds and the collar on not once did he ever object to the constant flow of drops (often we had to wake him to give him them) or the vets checking and working at his eyes.
So pleased for him.

How’s the new visitors Gretchen?
Real mixed emotions the past week. Unfortunately the kitten passed away after a few days. I think Mum rejected it either because it was sick or she’s too young and scared herself. I rang emergency vet in early hours but kitten passed shortly after and I buried it before work. Not a good day for me and first I’ve lost. Focussing on Mum who has been hidden under my bed since she got here but now eating and drinking and using litter tray though I never see her. I’ve left her to it, until tonight. She gave me an almighty scratch which I repaid with some love and fuss on my bed. My reward… (click video to play. Ignore Lebowski attention seeking outside the door)
She’s such a pretty girl and sat on my bed for a further five minutes before disappearing back under it. I’ll leave her a day or two but I’m determined to break her.
I’m not sure the sound is attached to the video but she started purring and made me cry.

After 18 months of our house being catless, we collected this dynamic duo last Wednesday!
Meet George, above his sister, Mavis, now 10 weeks old. We named them after my maternal grandparents. After a few days they've settled in really well and their personalities are coming to the fore now. Unlike me, they're of good stock too as their Father is a Scottish Fold (no surprises as to the breed of Mum).
I'd forgotten just how much attention kittens need, but they bring so much joy to us all.
