I end up having to turf Smokey off, as she seems to have an unnatural ability to weigh 10 times as much when asleep…

I’m not sure if this one goes here or the scale models thread confused

Looks like Rosie has a new hobby.

Any advice on British shorthairs? There is one for adoption we are keen on she may have had a bit of a troubled past though.
My cat pictured earlier is a british shorthair. So far so good but he is only 4 months old. Plays with the kids and loves to get cuddles once the kids are asleep. Though we've only had him a few weeks now I'd highly recommend the breed to others.

Spoken to the adoption center seems she is a bit of a problem cat she attacked her last owner
So we may have to pass as I thought they were very placid cats!

Stanley (Heinz 57) was a really laid back cat but if he'd had enough of you he would wrap his legs round your arm sink in his claws and and bunny kick the st out of you - luckily he had a "tell" and you were wise to take notice.

He also did not like anybody below 3 ft tall - all the nieces and nephews were warned - leave him alone he doesn't like kids - they all learnt the hard way biggrin

First family had 4 kids under 7 and I guess he had a bad experience in the first 8 weeks of his life

His sister Elsie was fine with kids.....

Our last one hated kids but would just hide. She never had a crossed word with us in 16 years

Seemingly this one had been fine for 2 years then got in an argument over a sandwich with her owner then the owner ended up in hospital :S

Seems first house had kids and lots of dogs so yeah maybe not the best kitty but she is gorgeous

Might be better with a good old domestic short hair again

I've not posted on this thread for a long time. The last of my 2 cats is gone today. My older one Ryy went in November 2021 and now Izzy this month. I adopted them a year apart but they were like brother and sister and made it to about 12 years old.

☹️

I lost Numps, and her son Lester, within a week of each other. It's horrible losing the little buggers.

So the wife said we should get the cat something for her to climb on/play with, see if you can spot the issue...

Yep, she sat on the box it came in, and ignored the cat house/climbing thing.

'Our' cat willingly escorts us to the front door and just when opened, she whizzes up the stairs instead. Then hides under a bed. I reckon she is having a laugh at our expense.

Mine has learned that the best way to get my attention is to scratch/meow at the patio door. Eventually I get up to attend/stop the meowing, and then she runs into the middle of the room and says 'Play with me'.

The feline overlord here has decided that it is amusing for him tp go out of the cat flap in the back door, walk 10 feet along the back wall to the patio doors where he will sit and complain that we are not letting him in quickly enough.

He also sits at the patio doors (inside) staring and making like he wants to be let out. When the door is opened for him he looks as you with that, "What? I was just looking out of the window" face as if you are some kind of idiot.
