'Our' cat willingly escorts us to the front door and just when opened, she whizzes up the stairs instead. Then hides under a bed. I reckon she is having a laugh at our expense.

The feline overlord here has decided that it is amusing for him tp go out of the cat flap in the back door, walk 10 feet along the back wall to the patio doors where he will sit and complain that we are not letting him in quickly enough.
'Ours' has a cat flap but is loathe to use it. Getting mere humans to open the front door is much more in keeping with her station.

Occasionally in desperation, she will go out the flap. But she absolutely refuses to come in through the flap even in foul weather or when really hungry. Nothing will persuade her otherwise.

Along those lines… this is one of my 2 at this moment… waiting to be let in… he only went out 10 mins ago, and he walked past an open door to get here.

His sister likes doing laps… out the open door and straight round to the closed door where a human has to get up to let her in.

Cats are fkers sometimes, but we love them all the more.

Would love to feel the benefit of the fire but my knees don’t have the strength they once did. And I’m scared

You could be the incredible Hulk, but that look says you will take your turn.

Ha. I’m now a nine and half stone toned 50yr old thanks to Bruce, Bader and Lebowski who have loved joining me in the home gym/cat room every night! I swear they turn the tension up at night. They work me like a dog.

In other news foster cat Pearl who was with me last year, rehomed but returned in Dec (no fault of her own turned out she needed female only company) went to her new servant last week after a while of patient and steady meet and greets. She’s settled in and already sleeping on the bed which is amazing and has made me super proud/happy.

That’s the first week done with ours in the cattery hopefully only 4 more to go.

Got sent some pics and they look happy and chilled.

When we drop ours off, we come back a week later and the big one is sat on a massive cushion, like Mr Bridger, surrounded by other cats and the owner doing his bidding

The little one is in the small pen, repeatedly bouncing a toy mouse off the wall...

My thought too!

If I should go away for a few days or a week I have very good neighbours who look after Furbag. She would absolutely hate going into a cattery because she'd think she was being rehomed (again).

These two normally hate each other, so despite the looks, I consider this a ‘win’…

Awe they are lovely !
I miss my Sphynx - had him put to sleep late last year due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Heart was 3 times the size from normal and lungs full of fluid. They said he was too advanced to be saved. He was only 4 years old.

I would love another Sphynx but am not sure I could go through that again.
And I don't miss the smell of the litter box either.

But your pair look very content

I’m so sorry to hear that. And I agree, there is no stink like a Sphynx poop, they seem to have permanent runs.

Ahh the only place a Sphynx likes to be in the winter. Mine is currently in his bed infront of the fire with his two blankets and his hotwater bottle..

Well it had to happen at some point, Smokey did this again today, except she over shot it and went over the bannister clawed at the base of the railings for a nano second then carried on falling…. I raced to the stairs to find her in the 2nd bottom step looking a little confused, and more than a bit sheepish, no broken bones or injuries other then pride luckily

Maybe this will persuade her to use the cat tree we bought ( ha ha ha)….

One of my parents' old cats did almost exactly this. They had a very similar banister arrangement and she liked to race up the stairs, leap onto a chair that sat opposite the end of the banister then spring back onto the banister itself. One evening I watched as she did this but cleared the banister entirely and flailed through the air back to the bottom of the stairs. Like yours, no harm done, thankfully...

I know cats like to sit in boxes, but I always assumed the minimum criteria was that they could fit their backside in them. Not with Betty...
