I had a new aquarium delivered about 6 months ago and had an oak piece of furniture made to hold the aquarium. Today finally got around to placing the aquarium on the stand and it's overhanging 1cm on the front and rear.

Measured the aquarium and it's 2cm thicker than stated on the packaging!

Is an overhang of 1cm each side or 2cm on one side going to cause issues? It's an opti-glass frameless aquarium that holds 150L. I will contact the manufacturer tomorrow.

Measuring/confirming the tank external dimensions before ordering the furniture would have been the best option.
Having got that out of the way you need to clarify whether the tank dimensions given by the tank maker are internal or external - although personally I would expect it to be external.
I would suggest any Q & A exchanges you have with the maker are in writing esp if they advise that an overhang would be fine.
What costing would be involved having the top of the stand enlarged? - if it can be done by a small extension could it be hidden by having it at the back.
I've never tried a tank on a stand smaller than the base of the tank.

Nice stand BTW.

It'll be fine, I'd have it flush at the front else you'll be forever catching yourself/chip the corners.

Got an email from the manufacturer stating that amount of overhang shouldn't be an issue at all. Having the tank on a flat and level surface is apparently more important with a rimless tank.

Wouldnt worry about the overhang, but I would sit it on 25mm poly instead of that superthin stuff.
