What are your experiences? How did you cope and how did you get over it?

I'm going through therapy after a major breakdown back in January brought on by a series of stress related events.
Opening up and finally realizing that having lived with/been surrounded by narcissistic people throughout my life( parent, mother in law, boss etc), coupled with extreme childhood trauma etc, probably explains a lot about how i've ended up recently.
It's not an easy subject to talk about but my therapist has helped me a lot to ' peel away' the layers and made me realize the origins of a lot of my problems.

Major thumbs up to you for taking positive action.

Nothing is a quick fix and may take a few years to repair damage you'll find on the way.

However, enjoy learning about yourself. The insight on your character will be very very rewarding and make you a really different person without you realising it.

Hang in there and blue skies to you.

The thing is i never realized it until the psychologist told me to check out certain articles about narcissistic personality disorder. That led me to devouring some books i found on the web and the bits of the jigsaw started to come together.

You live your whole life not realizing that the answers have been there all along right in front of you .The truth is sometimes difficult to swallow.

Oscar Wilde better

"Children begin by loving their parents; after a time they judge them; rarely, if ever, do they forgive them."

The worst thing about being having a narcissistic parent is that you end up in codependent relationships.
You give everything to the other person because you need the emotional love you never got when you were younger, and consequently you get trapped in a vicious circle.

I was all for supporting you when you stated you had issues with your father. Then when someone said you were making it all up you disappeared.

Your facts or stories were just becoming too unbelievable.

Now you are back again.

I am all for people receive help but is this correct or are you after attention?

Do not take it the wrong way but you were called out about it and never returned.

I remember this guy. He was called out, never to return. I suspect he wont return now. End of half term now though?

...and we wonder why there are so many cynical comments & doubt when people with genuine concerns/issues come looking for guidance/help or just to talk.
