Picked up our 8 week old Black Lab on the weekend. She is proper mischief little thing, into everything, no fear. 1st night barking and howling all night, tried water bottle, ticking clock, radio etc. 2nd night last night she did sleep quietly at 2am for 2.5hrs after I came down to clear up the mess and comfort her, so we are on the right path. I'm shattered though.
We think it's worth it biggrin
Mine had it's moments when it was a pup. Several times I did think I could quite easily give you back. It gets better.

Sadie was definitely a little out of sorts and felling pretty sorry for herself after being spayed on Friday:

However by today she was back to her normal (exhibitionist) self:

This is Jean, they got me up at 6:30 am for breakfast. Around 7am they had a 3/4 hour walk then swam in the pool. We walked down to the beach for breakfast then they ran up and down the beach and swam in the sea. Got back they had another long swim.
Our Springer pup often plays around like crazy when she's actually exhausted, it's as though she's fighting the tiredness. As soon as we take away her toys she settles down to sleep so perhaps Jean is the same. In this situation have you tried putting her in a room where there's nothing to stimulate her?
I'd say a padded cell, but she would rip the padding off hehe
Yeah , no that's not going to work.

She would not accept being separated and if we are in the room then we are the play mates.

It's not a problem at all, it's great part of their personality, love them to bits but I'd sometimes like them to you know sit down for a while. All other dogs I've had when you went for a walk and stoped they sat or lied down these two stay standing. It's bizzare.
They will sit at a restaurant so they have learned that when sat at a table we won't be moving for a while.
There is hope smile she will calm down in a few years like Logan did.

You might be right about fighting going to sleep it does look like that sometimes but Logan's the same. He will not stop swimming, you walk out he runs to the pool.

We used a metronome rather than a a clock as it is considerably louder. No idea if it worked as the pup slept through without issue from day 1 and that could just be luck!

Puppy sitting this weekend, a very excitable pair for the most part of the time, George now 18 months with his new charge, Lemon. The only chance I had for pictures were those rare moments of rest! Lemon goes home today, George will miss her.

I sat down and took this clip. They do not ever stop the more exercise you give them the more they want, Normal dogs would have a kip after all that ps it was 30 degrees.

If you're ever down south with her Chewie and I can meet you for a game of bitey face. It's a whippet speciality.
