Discussion
You know when your dog is getting old (12yrs) when her picture appears on a website discussing "Hearing Loss in Senior Dogs — Symptoms and Management"

Took my pup to the vets last night for her first injection & Kennel Cough meds, she was a little superstar. A little bit of whimpering and attempted howling when we left mummy for the first time but as soon as we got onto the motorway she was fine, went into the vets and did the deed, she was very well behaved and took it like a champ <3. The vet nurses were in love (of course they were... just look at that little face!)
Afterwards we drove her back to Mum & Dad where she will stay until I pick her up for good on the 4th December. Dad (Toby) has never been very paternal, he's not had a lot of involvement at all with the pups until a week or so ago, now he loves to have a run around and play with them.
A girl after my own heart... I had a photo sent by the couple I am buying her from late on last night of my little Dee, snuggled upto her Dad in his bed following her injections. Bless her. <3

A couple of months in and Rosie is making herself comfortable.

So here's one of our bull dogs "Happy". Around this time last year out of the blue he started having seizures. He's a fairly senior fella.
After getting him to a specialist nuero surgeon it turned out he had a brain tumour.
We were told if he responded to medication he'd be a good candidate for surgery. If we didn't do the surgery he may live a week or two. As luck would have it as soon as the medication started he was back to doing 5km walks with the youngsters. We had originally decided we probably wouldn't do surgery but after seeing his response to the medication we decided we had to try.
It was a fair chunk of cash but it was Christmas, so this was his present.
Not long after surgery... to keep costs down we took him home after one night armed with all sorts of stuff to manage any situations that could arise over the new year. I checked on him every two hours.
I felt a bit choked looking at him. What had I done to him. He looked like Frankenstein.
A month later staples out and the wound starting to look better
A couple of months a go with some of his buddies.
I guess the moral of this story is never give up on them.

Very choking story for us...we went through similar with our Milie...spent bect part of £5k with "some" insurance assistance....
Gave us another 2 years, but ultimately was unsucessfull, sadly,
Really dont know if we would go through it again, but as currently dogless, cant totally be frank and honest as I understand the emotion involved....

Yes it's always tough. Last year we lost our 5 year old frenchie and our dogue de Bordeaux. Gave us another 2 years, but ultimately was unsucessfull, sadly,

When we went for the surgery on Happy we were told that typically it only gets you another 18 months to two years, and as he was already 9, and a bull dog, he'd probably end up going from something else. But hey.. some time is better than no time!
