I had a cracking day out with my old 3 legged dog today. We're needing to be very careful in distances and breaks for a drink and rest but she's still enjoying herself. Its hard work having to stop for a beer every 500 metres or so drink

Not mine obviously

I have two seriously fed up cattle dogs throwing toys at me.

No I’m not buying them a pool as much as they demand it

I’m away for two days with work other half can deal with them smile

Here's Johnny

When dogs re-enact the films of Stanley Kubrick, don't leave your cattle dogs in control of the pod bay doors...

Now that is a great name for a dog; Steve.
Previous foster home named him that, swmbo would like to change it but I like it and Steve responds well.

He has some anxiety issues and much prefers female, (humans) over male, luckily the foundation who have sorted the foster/adoption are very good with regular contact daily and we have full access to their behaviourist which is helpful. Toilet wise he is coming on very nicely, but he did get upset earlier when swmbo went out, I tried a few different approaches but nothing stopped him from continually returning to the front door. I didn't want to over do it due to his issues with males. He ignored any interaction with balls and toys that I tried to entice him with, so I filled a couple of kong treats which had moderate success.

After speaking with the behaviour lady she had some good input so when swmbo returned, she completely ignored his jumping up and craving for attention, and waited to acknowledge Steve on her own terms, not his. This worked very well, it is only his 3rd day here and is an ongoing work in progress and it is really nice having a dog in our lives again after losing Fudge last year due to old age.

Most of the time 1 of us will always be at home, we know that when either of us leaves or arrives not to make an issue of the coming and going process, we are downplaying everything, but reward him each time when he listens to a command, toilet duties etc. We also take it in turns to feed him, and will do the same with walks on weekdays.

He has already tried our bed out, after the clever little sod worked out how to open the stairgate laugh

Some great pics on here of everyones hounds, especially the gourmet birthday dinner.

Picked Steve up today on a 4 week foster, with a view to adopt.
He wont be going back, he will be sleeping in your bed by the end of the week.
Oh my goodness! Welcome Steve, what a gorgeous little hound smile

and I totally agree, it is very hard to resist a Dachshund in the bed. Although now we have 3, my two Dachshunds only sleep in the bed when we are in the motorhome - at home they have their own bedroom now! biggrin

Steve looks great, love that breed too. Look forward to more pics.

Glad to hear he is settling well despite the few teething issues, but im sure he will be fine in time, sounds like you get good support from the charity too which is a nice touch too.

I also wanted to mention, we bought an IP webcam (Yi Dome cam) when ours was young to keep an eye on him when house training and when we started leaving him alone longer, works very well and cheap too, has two way audio and will send movement notifications if hes moving about with a little clip of what he got up to, generally just stretching on the sofa! biggrin
Thought it might be useful for you for when you start leaving him alone if he gets anxious, so you know what hes doing without him being aware.

Fudge used to sleep upstairs in his bed but we thought we'd try a different approach this time, not saying it will last though especially as there is now a spare bedroom here laugh

Lazer, thanks for the webcam tip I will have a look at that.

Did I read you had a holiday let as well , or was that someone else ?
Hiya T7, sorry... Totally missed this and been in Mexico for bit, so only just catching up with procrastination activities.

Yuppy, a cottage as well, adjacent to B&B business and restaurant/bar, but plenty of stone walls and garden to ensure privacy, peace and quiet. The previous owners used to live there, we will turn it into a holiday cottage. We don't take over until next month and December/January will be renovating it. Ideally the cottage (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, dining room, etc.) should be available from Feb/Mar onwards.

We are planning to add some fancy pods as well, as we have a few acres around the business. The pods are pretty nice, fully insulated, underfloor heating, wet room, double bed, sofa bed, table chairs. Maybe adding some decking outside to enjoy the sunsets.

Ok, back on topic ;-)

Western Lake District - This is the place: https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/wayside-guest-acc... Sorry about the pictures, they don't really do the location justice. Just building a new website, and we will refresh all the pictures on booking.com, will post the link once its up. We can sort you out a good price for accommodation, especially if it's Spring. Just PM me.

I got stuck with another puppy today. I had said no more puppy fosters but this was a friend of a friend and I didn't want to say no...

The recent old foster I posted about, Gemma, seems to be happy and is sleeping next to her and refusing to move from there. I'm keeping her in the cage for now but will let them loose in morning smile
