Cavalier is being daft

We have a beautiful Cavalier King Charles, he's a little over two years old and we moved house about 6 weeks ago.
Since we've been in the new house, he has taken to licking up grotty water from the floor around the property. It rains very very heavily here so standing water is a very difficult thing to control.
This is now making him ill quite regularly, we used to have him sleep in his bed in our room at night but having woken to a puddle of stinking wet stuff we have now put his bed behind the bar in the garden. He seems content here so I've no concerns about leaving him to sleep outside for a while.
He doesn't appear to be down or depressed, never vomits or eats grass. It's as if he doesn't realise that licking the ground water is making him ill.
He does often appear to be off his food. He's always been very fussy but eventually eats the dry food a few hours after he's eaten the cooked meat we usually put in the bowl too.
These days he doesn't always dive into and chomp all the meat down straight away.
Any thoughts? I'm assuming that stress for the house move may be linked to this? We've moved from the countryside to the city so now he has walled boundaries, whereas before he could walk out the house and take himself for a little trot around the local area.
He still gets plenty of walks and in general seems fine, it's just his loose rear end during the night.
