New cat, old cat isn't a fan

Wow, that's incredible. Trying not to sound like a cretinous 24hr news journalist here but - how did it feel?
Not my cat, but they were overjoyed; it had been stray for a good year at least before someone thought to take it to be chip checked!Edited by cqueen on Monday 14th August 20:13

Spent around 2 hours looking around last night, still no joy.
When do you accept that your cat is "gone"?
I think that is a personal decision. We found ours after 6 days, but I know we would have carried on looking, probably regularly for two weeks, then less regularly. When do you accept that your cat is "gone"?
Good luck

When you found your cat, were they still fairly local?

He was across the field behind our house.
Probably 1/4 mile as the crow flies
He lived to just short of his 20th birthday
Finges crossed for you

I've been as far as 5 miles away to where he was found originally before we got him, just in case he decided to make his way back there.
It is annoying that it is so hard to find an animal. He rarely went out otherwise I'd have gotten him a tracking collar.

This is where I'd be looking, and asking around. It is annoying that it is so hard to find an animal. He rarely went out otherwise I'd have gotten him a tracking collar.
You'd be surprised how far cats can wander. One in our village went missing and was found a good five miles away.
I think that's the next thing on the agenda. MrsTAD broke down in tears for the first time last night and I hate her being upset.
I'd like to think people have looked especially as we are offering a reward which is mentioned on the poster in bright colours so your attention is drawn to it.

We had this a few years ago, the resident (rescue) cat just did not take to the new rescue, it ended up with the older cat disappearing for days on end.
We got a phone call one day, she had been 'living' in a nearby Police office, they had been feeding her & had eventually taken her to a Vet to be scanned & rang us.
The copper that rang us ended up adopting her, we were sad to see her go but she is much happier as an only cat, she goes to the same Vets so we get occasional updates on her!

if you live near a busy road i would try a call to local police as well, if anyone may have run them over, it is sad but better to try and get closure. i was lucky i live in countryside so no busy roads. when my cat went missing i think next door neighbour stole it, but that is another story.
