I’ve been told the aroma emanating from my dog could be due to a yeast build up brought on by his food (Royal Canin kibble).

Therefore, I thought I’d try him on some grain and wheat free stuff - anyone use such food, and any recommendations?

Cheers

(Tried him on raw - didn’t work.. )

I use Acana, we have a really fussy / allergy prone Frenchie and he hasn’t been ill since we swapped.

A few versions available.

Seems quite hard to come by unless buying online?

Orijen, Applaws, Lily's Kitchen, Barking heads, Ziwipeak are all high end diets that have grain free ranges,

Of course home cooked diets if you have the time.

We use James Wellbeloved Grain Free, Fish and Vegetables or Lamb and Vegetables for a young Cockapoo. He loves it and it has pretty much completely stopped him being windy.

We also use Millie's Wolfheart for our dog and cats, high quality food which is grain and filler free, they all seem to love and thrive on it.

We also use the Fish variety - we started using when it was first introduced almost a decade ago. Solved the serious gluten issue that our dog had.
Only issue is fish breath - if you have a licky dog.
Had to use the lamb version recently when JWB had their worldwide computer glitch (Virus) and they ran out of the fish. They didn't take well to the change - just proving that sticking to the same diet works.

Have a read on here, I was surprised at some of the results there. Seems to be unbiased and scientific tests done rather than relying on labels which is good if true.

We have a Frenchie who was on Royal Canin French Bulldog Junior since we got him from the breeder, at around 1 year old switched to the adult version and was around this time he developed an allergy to something, we are still trying to figure out what caused it. (Food or something else like detergent etc)

I had bought a big bag of Acana for him as heard good things about it but this didnt help either (Check the reviews of Acana on the website above and you may be surprised!).
I had also just ordered a large bag of Royal Canin from ZooPlus which was unopened, asked about returning it to them and they replied to say they will refund me, but instead of returning I should just donate it to a local charity, very nice of them! I will certainly use them again for this alone. smile

Anyway, my vet suggested putting him on Vet Concept kibble made from horse meat which is supposed to be hypoallergenic, hes been on this for about 2 months now and no allergy anymore and even farts less, which is an added bonus! biggrin

ETA - According to the clean label project, foods containing Fish are the worst for toxins etc!
