Staffies are as a breed, tougher than old boots, they'll take anything life throws at them and keep buggering on.

As a family we've had Staffs and Staff crosses over the years and as an owner you'll need to provide in no particular order...

1, A comfy sofa

2, Either an open fire or wood burning stove complete with rug.

3, Food

4, Hugs, cuddles and ear scritches, a Staff needs affection more than oxygen.

5, Something to chew, Kong toy, postmen, nextdoor neighbours car, Nimitz class aircraft carrier, anything they can get their teeth into really...

6, Exercise, running from the fire place to the food bowl back to the sofa or twice round the planet works equally well.

Just to be aware, Staffs don't 'do' snow or cold weather. My mum let one of here Bull Terriers off the lead to run across a snow covered field one winter and the dog was heading for home before the lead was in my mums coat pocket, another had a snowflake land on his nose and looked at my mum like she was some sort of she devil before he ran back to the wood burning stove hehe

Some of my post is in jest but you really can't go wrong with a Staff.
Other than number 2 on the list (they just like to be warm) I totally agree.
Number 4 cannot be underestimated.
Sadly there is only one time when they break your heart and even then it's not their fault.
I would never consider another breed, Mark Evans summed them up perfectly.

Our girl doesn't really mind the snow. She just hates getting wet. She'll even side-step puddles on the pavement.
Only Kong toys seem to be able to stand up to a Staffy's bite ---- but a "running egg ball" comes pretty close. It's made of incredibly hard plastic and, once she'd got a tooth-hold on it she was determined to destroy it. She spent 20 minutes chasing it around in a snow storm.
I gave it and a pair of pliers to a workman but he couldn't make a mark on it.

Have you tried an Indistructaball Rob?

Our Dobe x Viz can destroy anything, but not this. He goes nuts for it.

Had a week away in a cottage in Snowdonia recently, Ruby loved it, really came out of her shell and showed us bits of her character we hadn't seen. This is why I love rescue dogs, so rewarding ☺

She loved the log burning stove.

I rescued my staffy Bella, so happy they won UK's most popular and are enjoying some positive press.

As others have said, they either need lots of exercise or are happy to sleep in front of the fire all day, depends on mood.

Need lots of toys.

You will never have any personal space again. Ever.
Think you can sleep alone or go to the bathroom alone? Forget it.

Easily the most loving, loyal, bonkers breed there is.
Wouldn't change her for the world.

I used to have a staff called Bella, can’t find any pictures of her atm. She got put down on September 12th 2011 and it came out of the blue. The next day me and my mom were crying messes walking around Birmingham dogs home looking for another dog but didn’t get one then, a month later my mom rang me and told me to meet her after work. Turned up and met this crack pot

He is named bodie. As in bodie and Doyle from the professionals

And just to further reinforce for comments about the lack of personal space with a staffy

Couldn't agree more.
One of my aunt's bred Staffie's and was accredited by The Kennel Club.
Without fail, all of the puppies developed into delightfully stupid, soppy and delightfully bonkers dogs.
There's some stuck up tt who regularly demonises the breed via his BBC local radio show where I live.

Hmmmm. As much as Iove Staffie's, that photo with the baby did make me cringe.
Not something I'd let any animal do personally.

My grumpy old man (staff x mastiff) loves my little brother smile

He can even tolerate a very energetic German Shepard pup that just thrusts toys in his face all day when I take him to my mums hehe

He’s a typical nanny Staffy and is as tolerant as can be. He also likes to grumble/purr like a cat when he’s comfortable and snort like a pig when he wants something.. normally food. Had him from a rescue since he was 1 and he’s 7 now, he never leaves my side.

Time for another killer Staffie from my local rescue kennels.

Meet Jordan. cloud9

He's been in rescue for well over a year, is a little over excitable on first meeting, but let him settle and he's a lovely lad!
