I'm thinking that but my girl was not and she came from Russia. Russian terriers do have a number of different breeds in them originally one being the giant schnauzer what this dog maybe. They also have caucasain ovachakra in them.

Our Bernard Elsa, other than organised meets never see another. Coming up to to 2 and now 65kg. Loves little dogs but normally scares them by bounding up trying to play.

Beautiful.

Someone I work with has a young St Bernard/Dogue de Bordeaux cross, and (perhaps not surprisingly!) struggles to find playmates for her.....

So glad this thread has been revived.

Love the big dogs posted earlier today.

Thanks. George is my ideal dog. Big, gentle and full of fun. And he loves being round people. Non-dogophiles are slightly nervous round him tho...

Humphrey, my retriever is just a gentleman. Distinguished and smart.

My ideal pair

I am fairly certain I saw a young Dogo Argentino pup in France last week. Obviously no photos as I would have looked weird, and my pooch was being sick at the time.

A banned breed in the UK so never seen one before

I saw one of those in Richmond of all places about 3 years ago. The owner rushed over to let his dog meet ours and to be perfectly honest, neither one of them was happy to meet the other. His response was "It's alright. If your dog is submissive we won't have a problem. If it's not, mine will make it and then we'll be fine!".

Er, no. Fortunately I managed to distract ours and took him far away from the situation. I've never seen the guy or his dog since. Situations like that certainly don't help the breed's reputation though.

Hungarian Puli - Quite common in Hungary but rare-ish over here.

Here's my brother-in-law's one, Baro. Commonly with dreadlocks but he keeps it short due to the summer heat in Hungary.

Exactly, especially if the dogs are showing signs that they aren't comfortable. The one I saw was still quite young, had the ear crop etc.

I like them to be fair, they are a good looking dog.

You're completely right.

Whenever my dog is uncomfortable I always try and remove him from the situation. I think I've only met one dog that was bigger than him and it was a large Great Dane so invariably mine always takes the blame even if he's blameless purely because he dwarfs most other dogs. Easier to just avoid the situation entirely.

He has lots of friends locally so fortunately I often bump into them when out walking him so he gets to socialise with known dogs that he considers his mates.

What dog do you have?

I have a similar problem, hes far too big to play with most dogs and lacks an off switch so he would accidentally crush a small dog I think. I do feel sorry for mine sometimes as all he wants to do is play but most other dogs are too small.

Or the small ones have little dog syndrome and go bat s**t which sets mine off but he gets blamed because he is big.

Mainly this with us really. hehe

He's a Kangal so not particularly common and equally they don't have the greatest of reputations sadly. But he genuinely is a soppy bugger with family and those he holds dear.

Nice choice though, definitely my sort of pooch.

Same with us - our Neapolitan is very soft and loves to play. Lots of dogs locally are just st scared of him. The end of our normal walk is on a canal tow path so lots of them end up getting picked up or dragged as it's difficult to make room and pass.

There is a mad Jack Russell that will ambush him by jumping off the narrow boat he lives on (it's pretty funny but Bertie really doesn't like it so it's not really fair on him)

I think it's made worse with our as not only is he big he also has the very wrinkled face which I think confuses a lot of dogs.

The only proper fight he has been involved in was with his brother who is owned by a friend - that was a real sight to behold. The noise was genuinely frightening.

If anything else has a go he just moves on looking a bit confused.

One of our neighbours has rescued a Belgian Malinois, what a lovely looking dog. Are they rare, I've not seen another before?
