Hi does anyone know of any Ridgeback puppies for sale fairly local to Essex?

Looking to purchase as a pet not a show dog or for breeding.

Thanks in advance.

Its not Essex but I can recommend a breeder in Surrey. They have a visiting day at the end on Sept. We got ours from them and she is amazing, very well behaved, fairly easy to train and very easy to look after. Will sleep for hours as long as they get a good run every day.

Another vote for Zejak. Was a very happy owner for 10 years.

Our neighbours have got one... it never leaves the house. Very sad, as it it’s behaviour is atrocious and I am sure it’s down to this.

If it has a ridgeback it's probably cursed in other ways. Bred in spinal issues seem to ring a bell. Can it be screened in any way.

I am sure it is the reason and not just because its a ridgeback, no dog should be in the house all the time.

I have no idea where you are getting your info from but remember not everything on the internet is true :-)

Agreed. Their previous Ridgeback was 13 (passed away last year) and a great dog, used to whip you with its tail. :-)

In the same way that bulldogs have bred in issues.

You can find issues with pretty much any breed of dog in bred or not.
In a Ridgeback the you can check for Dermoid Sinus and any reputable breeder will do this as well as many other checks.

Some dogs have more issues then others though. Some of those issues were bred in and can be bred out but the KC, despite knowing this do nothing about it. This is about looks taking priority over the dogs health. Bulldogs, cavalier king charles spaniels never looked like they did in years gone by.

It's helpful that tests can be done as that is a way forward in the future. Dodgy breeders won't care though.

This + 100000000

Horrid organisation that masquerades as looking after dogs welfare.......

You have to ask yourself why the KC/Crufts have tried to hide so much info regarding GSD that won a few years ago.

A looong time ago my bh was born, and bred from, there; not sure what the lineage from then on was. Merlin (Rejan Zoah Zejak) was her dad, I think he was Jackie's first stud dog; Buzz was her mum. Amazing animals.

That must be a long time ago. I have heard of a few of the males Jackie uses but not heard of Merlin. Pipers dad is Guy so she is pretty big for a female. Everyone loves her and she always gets lots of compliments when people see her. I really want to get another one so she has a brother or sister to play with but they are not cheap.
