That or Clove oil CFK.....
As a BTW, Im collecting my first ever Marine tank tomo, and plan to run a thread on it - Ive kept trops for over 35 years and never been brave enough to go salty - now is the time....
If you think your journey has been hard, watch this space as they say.....

Will be following for sure... 25 years for me, and I have a perfect spot in our new gaff...
And yes, a completely different ball game - even with a very good source of clean natural salt water fewer than ten minutes away...

Why do you not just remove the male fish and not have to kill anything?
Who art thou who comes amongst us with your scientific thinking? That’s the plan. They have very tiny willies though. Having trouble identifying him/her at the moment.
No real news this month.
Things seem to have stabilised nicely now the heating issue is sorted.
The cull went as well as can be expected.
Four managed to evade capture so there’s now a total of eight fish, three adults, one almost-adult and four tiddlers.
Plant life gone mad, and disturbing the gravel brings out an absolute cloud of tiny shrimp who appear to be keeping busy cleaning the gravel.

I'm peeved at the hitchhikers I've got in my betta tank.
Only bought my plants from one exceptionally good shop - then got persuaded to buy a (admittedly gorgeous) red tropical lily from another well known chain.
Bloody snails everywhere.
So, yesterday I bought a few Assassin Snails. Cool little buggers and should sort the problem out.
If they hadn't been dead on arrival home... Was hoping they'd just retreated into their shell - but 30 hours later they've not moved.
The good store doesn't get them in, as they'll starve in store as he has no pest snails for them to feed on.
Raging.
Well...that’s a bit odd. The plant life, which had been doing so well, has decided it’s had enough of being rooted in the gravel and has just sort of shed all its stems, leaving them floating.
Weird. Everything else is still fine.
Had a quick rake through the gravel to see what’s left of the roots and there’s just a few apparently dead bits.
Annihilated by the shrimp?
The floating bits that are left appear healthy and have sprung a few tiny new roots under some of the leaves in the last few days before breaking free so I wonder is it a natural cycle of whatever plant it is?
(Please don’t ask. I’m only just getting to grips with the fish...)

Possibly water fleas.
How would they have got introduced though?
More likely to be offspring of the shrimp you introduced a couple of pages ago.How would they have got introduced though?
How do shrimp give birth to daphnia?
You mentioned shrimp & how well they were doing in one of your earlier posts.
If you haven't put any daphnia in - no mention of doing so in your posts - & they haven't been introduced by any other method then there aren't going to be any in the tank.
