Yes, which is why we should have secure exercise areas. Lots of them.

In my area at least there is no friction between mtbers and dog walkers but there is friction from Ramblers who think they own the countryside.
Ha ha did a rambler once ramble off with your wife?

Don't have to be rambler to decry idiots destroying the forest. wink
Haha destroying the forest.. you have no clue im afraid
We have a few Areas near me where jumps etc have been built. They break down bushes and small trees which happen to be in the way, haul in old sofas to sit on, leave cans and litter all over the place and have generally no respect whatsoever for the countryside. Not saying they are all like that.

Or is it like around my way where we get traps set on the trails such as nails/drawing pins, logs across the track on blind bends, and worse of all as happened last year a barb wire between two trees at neck height.
And this [above] is the other side of the coin: when mb tracks are illegally set up you get people feeling justified in sabotaging them.
From entitled dog owners to entitled mountain bike riders smile

I've dragged the discussion off topic, apologies.
Pendulum swings back to "entitled dog walkers", though, when those MTB tracks were set up with the express permission of the land owner.
Too right. The Forest of Dean cycles centres still seem to attract far too many sodding dog walkers when there are hundreds of perfectly good well mapped walking routes in the area.

There have also been many attempts to sabotage (I'm not suggesting this is all dog owners!!) the tracks including the use of barb wire, branches with nails sticking out of them and deliberately destroying jumps/ramps/berms . It's such a shame because the team responsible for building /maintaining the tracks do an absolutely astonishing job & have been really busy this last year in the hope to be open an bigger & better than before!
