This morning the rain was bouncing off the pavement Chester, however, was adamant that it was walkies time. Now, our Chester is not a fan of the rain, in fact, he has a huge aversion to the stuff so I opened the door and just let him out in the garden... he dashed out full of vim and vigour and dashed back in about 0.7 of the speed of light! Didn't even stop out for long enough to have a tiddle. He then whinged and whined for about an hour until the rain had buggered off to annoy some other poor doggy and we got out for a trot around the block.
However, it was still wet underfoot and drizzling which meant that instead of a happy Chester sniffing every blade of grass, doorway, lampost, we had a miserable and sulky Chester who stopped only briefly to do what was neccessary and then pulled all the way home.
A measure ofhow thoroughly miserable he was, he didn;t even wag his tail and make a big fuss of the postman who was delivering a parcel of wiper blades to the door when we got back, instead Chester was just annoyed that his human best friend was in his way and stopping him from getting back indoors where it's warm and dry and the was the promise of a towel to dry his soggy nethers!

Bless him!!!! However, it was still wet underfoot and drizzling which meant that instead of a happy Chester sniffing every blade of grass, doorway, lampost, we had a miserable and sulky Chester who stopped only briefly to do what was neccessary and then pulled all the way home.

I have two Goldies and they both love coming shooting with me.
Sadly, they are a nightmare if they are both there as the younger one is much keener that he stops the old one from bringing a bird to me than finding his own.
So one need to be left at home.
The old one retired himself a year ago - refusing to get in the car. But, after a double arthroscopy on his elbows, he is far more mobile. My wife persuaded me to try him again.
They both know exactly what my shooting kit in the hallway means and both were keen. They took a bit of separating.
Here is the one shooting:

Monty on da beach modelling coat!
Previous dog Rolo was a Corgi cross and if it was raining he would just look at you like "Why, idiot, why?" and trudge round in a most dispirited manner.
