Yes, but did you continue to eat the ice cream with the same spoon afterwards!? Our dog food is frozen tubes of butchers trimmings - we started giving them to the dogs frozen in the heat last year. They were initially confused (argh, cold), but then they just lay there licking them like a normal ice cream….
Poor Lila. Woke this morning unable to place any weight on one of her hind legs. My partner whisked her off to the vet and it looks like the dreaded cruciate ligament. They’re carrying out more investigations right now, including x-rays. She could well be going straight into surgery to have both legs done if it appears they’re both affected. I feel so sorry for her and I know it’s going to be a long road to recovery. We had a holiday booked down in the West Country in two weeks and I was so excited to introduce her to the sea for the first time. I’m currently feeling devastated at the news.

Good luck Lila...!!!My 10 year old dog had his cruciate done - TPLO - last November at Anderson Moore vets near Winchester. The vet surgeon was very very good and my doggo was back to proper walks after just a few months.

A quick update on Lila. Just had a long chat with the vet. They’ve x-rayed her and it’s good news on the cruciate ligament front. All seemed to be okay on both legs. However, the x-ray showed an abnormal twist in one of her bones on the hind leg in question. They’re going to run a CT scan now to get a better 3D look while they have her in. The abnormality may cause an excess loading in that area, which could account for the lameness. The good news is that it’s fixable and would straighten her paw to how it should be. We could schedule this operation in a few weeks. She may get to experience the seaside after all. We just wouldn’t tell her that she goes into surgery as soon as we get home!
