Buying a Labrador these days
Discussion
Well, I don't know what to say...
Luna was happy, eating food, playful yesterday morning from around 6am onwards, went for a sleep around 9am and generally went floppy and lethargic with her heart racing, would eat, barely drunk anything. She hadn't been out of my sight/company during all that time.
She's spent the night at the vets after bloods, ultrasound, ecg, a flurry of tests... its not looking good, they don't know whats caused it

Vets called, she survived the night, but still hasn't eaten. They've been onto a cardio specialist who has prescribed a special drug to slow her heart and they were tracking it down and think they've found some...
We're now at that awful decision of whats best for her, would it be kinder to... oh god..

pupdate - good news
Shes stabilised, eaten, out of immediate danger but they still don't know if it's a one off or she'll need to be managed with medication. Off to collect her later, then we're taking her to a cardio specialist in Cardiff tomorrow, for another day of specialist tests to try to get to the bottom of it...
Shaun Sinclair of Fenton Vets in Haverfordwest has gone over and above to save her, grown man here trying not to cry...

Have hesitated over opening this thread throughout the day in case of the worst.
Glad to hear there is some positive news at the moment Byker.
Could she have eaten something? Or is this biological?
Fingers and toes crossed here.
My first thought was must have been something she ate, but vet thinks somethings wrong with her heart. We have her home so we can take her to the dog cardio specialist tomorrow... She's still very poorly and has a catheter in her leg. I'll sleep next to her on the sofa tonight.Glad to hear there is some positive news at the moment Byker.

Tomorrow is another decision day...
She won't eat, she has drunk and I've two wee's on the floor, she got up off the sofa to do the last one...
Breeder has started being dismissive when we asked about the 4 week pup insurance they were sending on...so I guess thats a no...
Thanks for all your thoughts

good luck at the specialist, i would imagine the breeder wont be letting you know if any other pups of the litter has had issues, usually if its a kennel club breeder 5 week free policy that covers illness immediately, are you in touch with any of the new owners from the litter? keep us updated,
