Sad to hear of the little doggies injuries. You haven't posted how this has happened, so I assume an off lead dog ran up to your on lead dog and resulted in this incident.
He was on a lead but proved too powerful for the persons to handle. Initially handled by a male, then passed to a boy. Dog then dragged the boy away...closing in fast, you can picture the rest.Wasn’t muzzled neither.
I’m always aware/mindful of the people/dogs around us. Tend to even carry him, to keep him safe.

Is sad.
He’s doing better, managed to have a pee on his own accord. And has eaten without being aided. Which is brilliant.
I’m trying to take the Mrs away for a half day’s trip to the seaside in order to visit her family.
My manager has been good to me, given time off work without being asked.

That is encouraging news!
Anyone who has a known aggressive dog breed should have a special licence to own one and only be permitted to walk them if they are muzzled.
This st happens far too often with owners thinking getting away with it, and at the end of the day, it is down to a poor or lack of training.

On Monday, the little man needs a scan to determine the full extent of his injuries. At the moment, he’s unable to stand up (despite trying to).
Operation is the biggest worry (due to his age) - it’s going to be a challenging week.
Mrs spent the best half of an hour cuddling and hugging him. His lovely coat is so soft.
Happier times:
Thank you all.

Not necessarily. You might like to factor in the instinct of the animal based on its history. Not every dog has been raised by the same family from a puppy. Another consideration is that lots of dogs display no signs of any unwanted behaviour until an incident occurs and whilst it may not seem like it, sometimes the aggressor isn't the animal that has come off best. (making no assumption in this threads example.)
Something else to think about is what you mean by training? Or is obedience the word you might have been searching for?

Speaking with Mrs Spoon, who is a vet. This little breed has an excellent level of resilience and excellent post trauma recovery. If that helps you at all. Operation is the biggest worry (due to his age) - it’s going to be a challenging week.

After a few attacks on my last loved Cairn, I decided in lack of police action to get actively involved. As in if a dog attacked my dog I'd intervene, as Police take no action against dog on dog attacks, but they will on dog on humans. And there's a threat to other dog owner of dog being declared as a "dangerous dog".

Erm, I have paid for the radiography session to be carried out yesterday afternoon.
Vet wants to discharge him today, to spend a few days at home. Before making a decision.
Nothing to add OP, other than my sympathies and sadness at the news of your suffering loved one. Fingers crossed the little guy enjoys the few days being at home again and can recuperate a bit.. Vet wants to discharge him today, to spend a few days at home. Before making a decision.
