We have 2 GSDs, and there is a huge difference between “dog bad behaviour or accidents” and a dog actively biting a human. IMO a dog actively biting a human is serious, and If one of ours did it, they’d be taking a short trip to the vets. Calling the police for that - no problem.

On the other side, we’ve had the police called because our dogs have barked at people/dogs from behind the gate. We’ve had the police called because someone was winding up the dog by waving a ball at them and the dog ran into them with its mouth open - person got scratched, not a bite. The individuals involved are off the Christmas card list…..

Doesn’t sound like this is true in your case, but people often don’t read the signs. The local farmer has a grumpy collie - nice dog, but when it wants to be left alone it tells you (teeth increasingly bared, obviously getting pissed off). I’ve had to pull people off that dog who simply can’t see what is happening - they’re about to get bitten and it is hardly the dog’s fault.

Why does this not surprise me? Spaniels need training and exercise.

I had a similar issue with a neighbour's springer a few years back, and thanks to some excellent advice received from here was able to see the little sh*t off.

Only for the owner to complain that I was 'scaring' the dog. The owner was a f**kwit who kept spaniels because they suited his vision of his lifestyle, not because he knew anything about how to handle them.

Agreed. I've had worse from a bramble. 4 mm is tiny, I thought you'd lost half your hand, lol. If a dog intended you harm then the cut would be a lot bigger then that.

I think you've done the right thing by bringing it to the owner's attention. The dog needs more control but it's hardly a threat to humanity, just yet ;-) it shouldn't run out of it's owner's territory.

Since when has a cocker's colour had an effect on its behaviour.
Rage syndrome, widely studied.
