As for insurance, when we first got Spud we took out insurance with Pet Plan. Two days after taking it out he got hit by a car and his paw was damaged. We tried to claim on the insurance and they refused to believe that the accident happened two days after taking out the insurance. They kept insisting that it happened before and we were holding off taking him to the vet until we had insurance. We went through months of fighting with them and the bill came to almost £400. We have never paid it because we know we are in the right. The vets keep saying they will keep contacting the insurance company (who are still not backing down after almost a year).
That's disgraceful. The chances of an incident arising within two days of policy commencement are 2/365. So do they throw out that propoprtion (or more) of all claims? I'd be inclined to ask the vets if they can write a letter/expert witness statement stating that in their professional opinion the accident happened on X date. And if that doesn't work, go to the Insurance Ombudsman.IainT said:

All he has done today is sleep 24/7. Staring at him now twitching away. A gorgeous sight. I am sure he will be OK. I will post updates.
Seems to be both a sign of illness and a recovery mechanism, keep us posted. Also agree with Simpo's post - utterly shocking treatment. Pet Plan were great with us and I'm shocked given their usually good reputation.
The Insurance Ombudsman is definitely the route to go, no messing.
Some a bit different but definitely still cat related...

Being that summer is here, and getting hot, the lizards are out and about. Unfortunately one decided it would venture into the garden, which unfortunately for it meant it was 3 against 1. Smudge got it first. Played with it for a bit, then it escaped under a tree, where the other 2 joined the hunt. It make a breakaway, only to be chased down by the small, but nimble bugger, Whitey.
I managed to get it off him, and put it out of its misery.
Wally was useless.
