This little chap is going to be moving in on Saturday
His name is Ben, he's 5 years old, and he seems to be a typical Springer ie. loads of fun. He and Jackson did the usual Spaniel thing of not taking much interest in each other but there were no issues so I'm confident that they'll get on well. Can't wait to get him now!

Great news. look forward to seeing pictures of them together. He looks slightly smaller build than Jackson.
How is Jackson coping with the heat?
I can see that I'll have to use food or tennis balls to get them to stay still together for photos...How is Jackson coping with the heat?
Jackson's okay with the heat, we just do shorter walks and include a swim or paddle in every one. If he's at my parents' house you have to make him stop messing around every so often as even though he's getting on a bit now he's still too busy having fun to be sensible and pace himself.
How about Holly? She's older isn't she, Jackass is 11ish?
Sounds like Holly's doing great.
I'm getting him from http://www.caessr.org.uk/ who are based in Staffs about an hour away but rehome Spaniels anywhere. They're great to deal with. I was shocked when the guy I saw today told me that in the 3.5 years they've been going they've taken in just under 1000 dogs!

How are they getting on ?
It didn't work out unfortunately, Jackson hated having another dog in the house and was very down the whole time. Ben was basically a very sweet dog and very good around the house but there were a couple of confrontations where he was very aggressive for no particular reason, which obviously didn't help. I wasn't all that suprised TBH as Jackson will only socialise on his terms but I hoped he would accept another dog after a couple of days.I took Ben back and could have tried maybe an older one or a bh but I'm positive the result would have been the same. It's a real shame of course but if Jackson wants to be the only dog then so be it.
I was very impressed by the people at http://www.caessr.org.uk/ though so if anyone's interested in rehoming a Spaniel they should get in touch.

Tess is lovely nice colouring too. How old? Maybe you are still hoping Jackson will accept another dog perhaps he would prefer a female?
She's just coming up to two going on six months! It's not a test for getting another dog, it's just that my friend couldn't find anyone else to have her at short notice. Just like with Ben Jackson has completely ignored her and isn't impressed, so for the last two nights I've let him sleep upstairs as a treat.

As this is a dog photo thread - any tips on getting a good pictures? I was hoping to have my beloved lab immortalised on canvas but most photo shoots end up with him bouncing nose first at the camera for a treat.
Take photos when the dog isn't full of energy, take then from low down, and IMO the best 'pose' is side-on with the head turned towards the camera. Basically you need someone to stand in front of it with a treat or ball and squat to the side. And be quick!Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
