Dog owners, what car do you drive?
Discussion
S4 avant
OH has an MR2 turbo which is now next to useless for dog duties... but when we only had one dog, we managed in a 328i MSport coupe...
I think it probably depends on how well your dog does in any sort of vehicle; how big the dog is; how fidgety the dog is; how safety-conscious you are - where you'd want the dog to travel (footwell, boot, backseat, front seat, harnessed, etc)... How much you're willing to compromise on car choice for the sake of the dog.........
I like the MSport touring idea! If/when I change the S4, I think it'll be BMW touring time...

I have a GSD although he's a small size vs most male GSDs, but since we have to run 1 car only for a while, this was a decent compromise for the budget. He stays harnessed in the back seats, so we have the boot to load luggage when we go place, on holiday etc.
When we were still living in the UK last summer we went to Conrwall for 2 weeks with him, we were running 3 cars and we went in my Mazda2 5 door, car was jam packed and i was amazed we managed to get his crate in it too as well!

We have a Subaru Forester and an Audi A6 Estate, our Newfoundland didn't appreciate the boot of a Fiesta, but did fit.
HAHA Nice. My alsatian/leonberger cross (around 10st on miniture horse) rides around in my mothers 06 vintage Shogun Sport 3 days a week when she isn't at work. Come the days I'm on duty, she gets squeezed into the boot of a e36 320 tourer..... Fine if she sits/lays down. When stands though, fills all 4 corners of the boot and her back rubs the roof. For a beagle, and 5k spend, I'd be struggling to look past an E46 tourer... diesel if doing miles, if not, 330 all the way
Air con will keep pooch cool too. Or how about a p38 RR?

My Retriever was escorted around in both my Elise's for a while. Bit of a tight fit but we managed it.
I know that feeling, used to take my GSD out in the VX220, got 2 now though so it's a good job the VX has gone and I've got a Monaro now. Try not to take them in it unless really necessary though cos the doghair does my head in.Now add into that image: 1x 6ft7 me, 1x OH, 1x alsatian/leonberger cross (yeah it's a donkey in disguise with the IQ of crushed fruit), and 1x manic jackrussel mungrel thing that sits anywhere from the dashboard to the boot, even my knee until it gets chastised.
Best £1000 Ive ever spent, means the other car is pristine inside, and this soaks up the abuse. Lost a stone since ownership due to getting out to yorkshire/lincolnshire all the time.

MG BGT
Poppy seems to find ideally set up for her, the seat belt reel providing an ideal muzzle rest. In fact she seems to prefer it to the Merc Sport Coupe, unless her chauffeur is a bit too enthusiastic in corners. The squeezing her muzzle between the window and headrest in the Merc the provides better support in corners.
