My pup (a 3 month old cockapoo)just ate a conker on his walk in the park. I have heard these can be poisonous to dogs - anyone know? He's still breathing!

I think the general consensus is that whilst conkers can indeed be toxic they usually have to be eaten in quite a quantity for this to be the case, however as you have a very young pup I would phone your vets for advice and they may in turn phone the poisons unit as they keep all reports and results of poisonings and can give appropriate advice (though there may be a charge to you for this)

The above is a really useful quick guide to potential toxic plants, I should say I know in some cases (ie apple pips and cyanide poisoning) a lot of the plant has to be consumed to casue toxic effect, however in others not so much!
