Not me unfortunately....a friend is off to Nepal for a bit of trekking week after next and has a few questions she can't find answers to on the net, so I thought I'd throw it open to you well seasoned folks.

Travel Adapters - what type pin arrangement do they have?

Cash/cards - what's best to take? Can you get cash out of a machine with a bank debit card?

Any other helpful hints would be most gratefully received I'm sure.

Thanks folks. smile

haha - and the first line of the link is about a person missing in Nepal.

Cheers for the link though - PH is the only forum I use but I'll pass the info on.

OK, a couple of good tips here I hope.

Take some chocolate with you if your trek goes pretty remote, the camp food can be very bland and difficult to scoff at altitude, chocolate is also a great morale booster!

Take hand sanitizer and use it every time you go to the loo, eat, drink or come in to contact with anything ify!

I would take some cough sweets, the Khumbu cough can be a killer.

Spare camera batteries, the cold can kill batteries quickly (so can the jaw dropping scenery).

Pack light as possible without compromising comfort.

As for cash, their are ATMs in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you won't need much on your trek probably less than £100 worth of Rupees if you are camping on an organised trek. Check before you leave from a large town though!

I would try and avoid any bus travel that goes overnight.

Have a great trip!

I hear you're advised to not bother being so clean in the month or two before going eg not wiping surfaces with anti-bacterial wipes etc. If she's a big fan of Dettol, she can expect to spend most of her trip squatting over a hole in the ground...

Get him to book a few days chilling out at the Last Resort - What a place! You can if so inclined add in the bungee jumping (yes I've done it) and white water rafting or just relax in the fantastic surroundings.

Transport is fixed up from kathmandu. The jingly bus route is an experience in itself.

She's on a tight schedule, has been given time out of work - so no chance to relax I don't think frown
