I used to travel back and forth to Belgium a lot, and used the tunnel. One way day return cost about £12, so I would always use that. Of course I had an address in Belgium, and an address in the UK so bought two day returns one from each address and only ever used the outward journey on each ticket.

A friend picked up on this and her parents bought two day returns when they came out to see her, and couldn't understand why the Tunnel refused to let them travel back on the return leg of a day return when they hadn't used the outward leg - cost them a small fortune for a single to get home!
