Hi guys.
I've got 130,000 skywards points. Need a break as not had one all this year so thinking 6 nights in Dubai week after next. Now I want to use the points to upgrade me, my wife and my 2 year old daughter from economy to business.

I looked at skywards and for flex ticket its 25,000 points one way to upgrade. But is it the same for a 2 year old?

Also can I upgrade using my skywards account my wife and daughter?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Call skywards, they can sort this out for you, but if your daughter has her woen ticket then she would also need to have the same upgrade as you. Depending on what route you are on you may have trouble trying to get 3 reward tickets. Are you Gold?

Yep I am gold. For a 2 year old it's a 75% ticket.

Birmingham to dubai

Will try skywards tomorrow

Done business class with her last year to Dubai when she was one. Generally people are ok with. You get the odd miserable git.

I see your emirates traveller aswell, was saving my points for first class via a380 out of manchester next year. I fly 4-5 times a year to the far east on business. Usually fly from Birmingham on the 777 300ER which absolutely crap in business class and has no first class.

I see what skywards say but you are right 3 reward tickets not going to be easy. Might just end up buying a ticket for the wife and child in biz and upgrade myself from economy.

Good luck with that. Been emirates gold member for about 10 years and every time I try to make a reward booking is either ridiculous number of points or (more usually) no availability (in which case, they helpfully point out that I can buy a ticket for the same flight).

Been like this since they changed their earning and redemption policy last year (earn less, have to redeem more).

By contrast, with Virgin and Etihad I've always been able to get on flights with points when I've tried so don't think I'll be flying much with emirates next year

Never managed to book a reward flight, only a miles upgrade. Have you booked flex or saver fares?

need to be sure that your tickets are flex fares otherwise there will be trouble with the upgrades. Even if no upgrades offered on the day you need you can do it at the airport, but obviously there is a risk that it will be full anf you end up in Y

Booking them as flex economy tickets then trying to upgrading using skywards. That was the idea.

Should be 25,000miles each way for each person. Child I'm not sure yet until I speak to skywards

Thirded. Absolutely disgusted with Emirates' attitude on this, and from being our first-choice airline they've dropped well down...
