Planning our trip for January, hiring a car and staying 3 nights in Orlando to visit Epcot & Universal Studios - any one have any good suggestions on hotels circa £ 100 per night ?

My daughter is staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Orlando Seaworld, I think she's paid about £350-£400 for 8 or 9 nights

Any Best Western close to where you want to be ? They seem like a good deal based on price v reviews - check out Tripadvisor reviews for more info.

Check out Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios.

Generally I stay at the Crowne Plaza on Sandlake/Universal when I'm in Orlando, nothing particularly couples orientated about it but it's a good hotel.

Thanks for all your suggestions, sometimes trawling through TripAdvisor makes you even more confused !
Shortlisted Radisson Lake Buena Vista,Hilton Garden Inn & Hilton Grand Vacations and Crowne Plaza Universal - steering towards the latter.

Very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor.

I stayed with my wife for 2 weeks in 2006, as Ive said before on this forum I thought it was overpriced and once you get beyond the glossy brochure shots of the lake its just another hotel. I thought the service from reception to parking garage to restaurant maitre d and servers was poor if not rude at times.

I'd go to the point orlando apartments just off universal boulevard, benefits of a hotel with the bonus of effectively getting a suite for hotel room prices as your apartment has a lounge, bedroom and kitchen.

take a trip to the kennedy space centre, cheap tickets and a good day out if you in the least interested in space

I stayed in the Hilton Grand Vacations(Seaworld) two years back along with my wife and 2 year old daughter.

It wasn't your traditional style hotel room, more like apartments of varying sizes depending on budget and party size. It was ideal for us, 2 minutes walk from seaworld, and an easy drive for anything else. Hotel grounds were nice, pools were large and plentyfull, and the food was good the odd time we tried it in the hotel.

My experience of hotels in Orlando is limited, but i don't think you could go far wrong with this one.

I can.

I went maaaaaaaaaaany Moons ago, and it was great.
This year my Bruv was married out those ways and we stayed at the Beachfront or other plastic-inium of Orlando and went in to Epcot for the day.

It is a tired looking place these days.

It was full of wondermunt years ago before we all travelled the corners of the earth, but now?
So so at best.

Only a few 'big' rides and the rest is just filler.
I think this is pretty much bang-on. EPCOT is a bit lame in comparison to other parks in terms of interactivity and action. The most impressive feature is what used to be called "The Living Seas" - now 'Finding Nemo' or similar Pixar promotional tool. It was and continues to be a quite spectacular marine aquarium of pretty gigantic proportions.
My only other reason to go anywhere near the place was to get a Harry Ramsden's fish supper for an occasional nostalgic treat. I was mortified to read that the Original Harry Ramsden's in Guiseley is being closed. I used to live only a few miles away and it were proper good, back in the day....

They've been dire for years, sadly. I too remember them at their prime. Since they got taken over they've been as far removed from their 'glory days' as is imaginable frown
