Looking to book 2 weeks in sharm el sheikh.

Want 5* for and been looking at both the Ritz Carlton and the Stella Di Mare.

Has anyone got any experience of going to either of these?

Thanks for that. It has been years since I was last in Naama Bay. It was good back then (11 years ago).

Has it really got that bad?

My problem is tht i will be going with someone who definitely doesn't want to just stay in the hotel the whole time and have the option of popping out most days/evenings even if it's just for a drink or some food.

I originally was looking at Soma bay and El Gouna, but been advised against it as there will be hardly anything to do where as Sharm has the go karting tracks, soho square, camel divers bar etc...

A bit stuck as to where to go if sharm is really that bad

Pack a selection of football shirts and you'll be sorted.

We decided to visit Sharm about 18 months ago, because it was the closest hottest place in May (and we were only going for a week and going to the Caribbean from Switzerland means connections etc, so isn't worth the journey time).

We landed at 2am and got a taxi to a 4* hotel that we had booked 5 minutes from the airport so that we could sleep for a few hours before going to the main all-inclusive place we had booked. The taxi driver wanted the best part of a ton for the 5 minute taxi ride. When we got to the hotel we realized he was mugging us off and caused enough of a fuss for the hotel security guard to get involved! Ended up paying about 20 quid. The hotel was nice enough, but my girlfriend was getting hassle to go and look at stuff in the shop etc while I was paying the bill in the morning. So overall not the best of starts!

However, the main hotel was the Savoy Sharm-el-Sheik (not it's cheaper brother), right on Soho Square. We booked the "S-Class ultra all-inclusive" package that meant we got better drinks included, a free massage etc, but most importantly we could eat at any of the Soho Square restaurants for dinner. There were more restaurants to choose from than we could get through in a week. The quality for resort style restaurants was excellent (and I'm used to eating in Michelin-starred restaurants). There were some Russians there, but they mainly provided entertainment - they had a fascination with over the top posing for photos at every opportunity!. There was absolutely no hassle from the locals, be it in the hotel or in Soho Square. I think the only slight niggle was the price of wine (not included in the package). It was clearly set to fleece the Russians. No big deal though, we just stuck to beer and cocktails.
