I use the tunnel now as I got fed up of being rammed in the bum by the ferries even with their "flexible" tickets but it is a shame that more competition for P&O is disappearing.

Yep was just listening about that on the news.

Odd that the French Government refused a takeover bid from DFDS that may have saved the company.

At least I haven't got any money tied up in fares this time - went SpeedFerries went under, I had an unused 10-journey pre-paid voucher. Fortunately, my claim for compensation in full was accepted.

Not good for those who have booked for the summer already. I was not far off booking my crossing for the Le Mans Classic, but hadn't yet decided which route/operator...

SpeedFerries was IMO/allegedly etc driven out of business by the nefarious activities of the big players, bloody shame, the guy who ran that firm had the right idea. How these companies aren't making huge profits is beyond me, given the prices they charge.

Perhaps they got gouged by other big players, like the fuel companies...

Single trips are always a rip off on the ferries or tunnel.

I'm surprised SeaFrance struggled on for so long given their militant unions and need for subsidies to survive.

Really? Each year I pay around £25-£30 for a one way motorbike ticket or around £50-£60 for the car using Eurotunnel. Seems very reasonable to me.

You can get a return car ticket on the tunnel for £58 so it's the same price as a single ticket. The 350€ price was probably due to it being a last minute purchase too.

Not if you don't know when you're coming back or the return is several weeks/months away as in my circumstances. The cheap returns are for short trips only. I still think that £58 for a car plus up to 5 adults is very good value.
