I travel 2-300,000 miles a year through most of South East Asia and South America - it really isn't a concern.No-one gets drugs planted on their baggage. (Apart from isolated cases which bizarrely involve legitimate security forces, which you couldn't do anything about as they have the keys for TSA locks anyway)
If something is stolen you will know soon enough.
