Portugal Car hire, liciense expires soon

Hi,

I'm due to hire a car in Portugal in at the end of May for 2 weeks, I noticed this morning though my license expires start of September 2012. It's a good few months away before it expires but I wondered if I need to have a minimum period of time left on my license before it expires in order to hire a car ? For some reason I remember hearing it's 6 months but may be I'm getting confused with a passport ?

I'm flying to Malaga on Sunday and just realised I've no idea where the paper part of my licence is and..... My photo card has expired!!

Got a car booked with Alamo. Am I going to be in trouble with the wife here??

Quite possibly as u could also be in trouble with the BiB here too due to driving with an invalid licence!

Well, I've just renewed via the DVLA website, so fingers crossed I wont have to worry about the BiB.

However I fear a month of nights on the sofa awaits if I don't sort something out for the hire car!
