That is a same terminal AA - AA transfer, so no worries at all with that, just make sure you have checked in and got your boarding pass for both.

I regularly have scheduled transfers at ORD of 35 mins and still have time to grab a drink in the AAdmirals club.
No reclearing security for same terminal transfers in the US. Walk off plane, up jetbridge, and you are in the common area. Walk to next gate, board.
If by some freak occurance you do miss the connection, if you are on the same ticket you are protected and AA will rebook you.

The only issue you may have that could delay you is if american eagle make you gate/valet check your carry on, as their planes are very small. This even happens to me in first class on eagle as there is very little space in the overheads, and one side doesnt even have an overhead on someof the smaller planes

Good choice of the AA day flight too - jet lag beater that one, although AA coach is ghastly.

OK if I'm stuck in chicago for a day I blame you! smile

Its going to be interesting as I'm checking a display stand case - about 40" x 20" by 20". I know with BA exec silver its fine but wonder what american will do. I'm assuming on the way into the US I'll have to collect and recheck it once through customs.

Yes- entering the US, you will have to collect, clear through customs, then recheck.
Leaving, it should be through checked. As a silver you shouldn't have to pay either.
While you are connecting in T3, grab something to eat from tortas frontera (if its open that early....) seriously good food- regardless of it being in an airport, this would hold its own anywhere.

There are far worse cities to be stuck for the day tbh...and if you do have to, you may get lucky and rebooked on BA

90 mins AA-AA is doable if leaving US.

Can't say I miss ORD too much though. Used to work a fair bit in Des Moines so have connected there a few times.
