All 7 of the B747s flying out of Gatwick and Manchester are having new seats fitted in Premium Economy and Economy during this summer. The Upper Class cabin is also getting a refresh at the same time, and all cabins will get a new inflight entertainment system.
The Gatwick-Las Vegas flight will have a refurbished aircraft on it from late July.
Good job as well, flew out to Vegas in January.

Outward I was in upper class (it was OK but dated and showing its age)also spent some time in premium economy with some colleagues in the upper deck, that was very dated. Came back economy (lucky me) and that was bloody awful!

Fly to LA in June with Virgin from Heathrow I hear the planes are better on that route. (fingers crossed)

LA and SFO have newer planes (presumably due to more business travel and less hen/stag parties).

They're OK and certainly much newer, but not fantastic.

We flew back from Vegas last December, Premium Economy. Old 747, upstairs. It was quite cramped compared to the Airbus we had on the outward trip (into JFK). I suspect that if we'd chose PE downstairs it would have been a more comfortable flight. I'd still take Virgin over BA anyday though.
I thought having the PE cabin upstairs was quite nice, much fewer people and didn't personally find it cramped at all.

It was the fact that they cram 40 seats onto the top floor, which is twice as many as most put up there in business class. I know it's cheaper than BC, but it felt a bit tight. Not least because the inconsiderate tt in front of Mrs. Tuono insisted on slamming his seat back and forth most of the night.

Virgin atlantic are refurbing all their planes which should be done by the end of 2013.we flew out to Barbados last week and was hoping to get a refurbed plane but instead got a very worn one.Still comfy though but in desperate need of the refurb.
