.................that doesn't charge a significant extra amount (a few hundred £) to facilitate me with a double bed?

Never come across this before in any other big city I've stayed in - as nothing beats lying spread-eagle on the bed after a hard days graft!

I'm due to spend a few weeks in the centre soon, but would prefer not to stay in a single bed. Every other hotel I've stayed in at least provides a small double.

Might sound pedantic but it makes a difference to me if I'm going to be away from home for a while.

Any recommendations?

Apologies - budget up to £250 p/n.

The more central the better. Right on the river towards Paliament etc.

The Charlotte Street Hotel is pretty special. Very central, (not cheap though 5*). Has a cinema in the basement, brasserie attached with great food.....etc etc.

There are plenty of premier inns in or near the centre of London.
This one is next to the London eye.

Stayed at the Montcalm in Barbican a couple of months back, very comfortable big beds and not a budget killer either.

£250 a night is plenty for London.....

I stay in London regularly and use LastMinute.com most of the time. I find rooms in very central 5 star hotels in the £150 a night range - and they all have double beds. Most hotels have doubles as standard.

For really really central, stay at the Radisson Leicester Square. Should get a nice room for sub £200.

Places like the Hoxton are way east and not what I'd call central for theatres, restaurants etc.

Why not look at a services apartment, far more appealing if it's for an extended period

I've worked in central London for 25 years, so know it moderately well..... The 'place with all the theatres' is kind of Covent Garden area which has some of the best restaurants in London. It's nightlife is great too....

I find EC2/Shoreditch to be anything but 'central'. Which is what the OP wanted.

I'm sure the owner of the Hoxton is a top lad. smile

There is a ton of stuff to do in the central London area - and some great bars around Covent Garden.

Don't be a tour guide! smile

The Landmark, Marylebone Road.

A nice hotel that I have stayed at a few times, mostly because I couldn't be fooked to drive home.

Last minute have a few....errm last minute deals.

Surprising what you can get turning up at 11 PM needing a room for the night.
