Hi guys,

Looking at renting a villa in Hvar in late June for a week, travelling with my girlfriend and one of her friends, and am wondering what the island is like?

I stayed in Milna (Brac) about 18 months ago and loved it, which although done on a similar budget to the one planned. The plan would be to see some history but to also find some nice bays, beaches and coves....

Last time we hired a car and found it invaluable (stayed in a villa c. 2 miles from civilisation and regularly travelled to to split, the lakes, Bol and used it to get there from the airport, Zadar) but the villa found this time in Hvar says that its near the centre of the town which is ideal, but will we need a car to get around on the island to see things? (girls refuse to go on a quad/moped)

Also our planned inward plane lands in Zadar and we plan to fly back from Zadar 10 days later.

I know that there are coaches between Split to Zadar for getting there/back but are they frequent or should we hire a car from the airport for the 10 days although we may not need it all week, will hiring the car actually be worth it, although it would make airport runs easier and give more flexibility for looking at the lakes in the national park)

Sorry for all the questions but the last thing I want is to be blamed for a holiday that is a logistical nightmare, plus I have to adhere to a strict budget (as little as possible!), the 10 days with the hire car = £268pp (+petrol/tolls) without = £162pp
