Fortnight near Murcia southern Spain - What to do?
Discussion
I always find Murcia one of the more uneventful regions of Spain but confess I haven't driven much of it bar on the prolific motorways.
However, we drove the coast road from the Cabo de Gata national park in the south all the way up past Mojacar to Murcia airport and that has some lovely scenery along it - just cling to the coast as you go. Drop off to visit Calabardina just north of Aquilas which is a quiet little resort in the middle of nowhere.
Inland from Mojacar is Turre which has a great road leading to it. The Cabo de gata is a good 4 hour trip there though but Aquilas is worth a visit. San Juan de Terreros looked fairly underwhelming though, as a resort.
Murcia tends to be flatter than much of Spain. I find it useful to go on Google maps and drag the little man to the Street View to get an idea of roads worth driving.
