No need for naming and shaming.
Last night I stayed in that London for a colleague's leaving drinks. I stayed in a particular hotel, which I've used many times before without incident. Nothing fancy just cheap and cheerful.
Went to get into bed late last night and the sheet felt a bit damp, but it was clean and didn't smell so I assumed it was wet from the laundry still. Since it was warm and late I couldn't be bothered to get dressed and go to reception, so decided to sleep on top of the duvet.
This morning I woke up, lifted up the duvet and was greeted with this:

bed

The matress was obviously soaked through underneath the sheet, no idea what it was but thankfully it didn't smell like pee. Still bleurgh!

So come on, share your horrid hotel experiences and help distract me from this morning's horror. Alternatively, speculate on what caused the stain and make me feel worse.

I know, matching stain on underside of duvet is my defence. I wasn't even plastered and I'm not that old!

Stayed in a B&B in Blackpool for a weekend with some lads of the rig. Was a 2 star but I don`t think it should have even been that.
On the wall, it said the room was cleaned every day but came in the day after we arrived and the floor was still the same as the Friday. Moved the bed side table back and was thick with dust and all sorts. Plus there was about foot & half between the bed and the bathroom door. A number of other things also but cant really recall them at the moment
Breakfast in morning was rank aswell, had poached eggs on toast but bread was dry as hell and the eggs had been overcooked in a round egg cooker thing..

I stayed in one with a 24 hour check-in and for some reason they decided it would be a good idea to check in four teenagers to the one room at 0400.

This was next to mine. They proceeded to trash it and run riot in the corridor.

No answer from front desk so I had to go down to complain. Waste of time as it just carried on.

Left them a bad review on Trip Advisor.

Started drinking at midday, finished drinking at 3am and stopped at Mcdonalds on the way back to the hotel. An hour later I'm being violently ill, few hours later wake up with the worst hangover ever suffered by a human being all while in the hotel. A terrible experience.

This wasn't what you meant was it? biggrin

We went to Alton Towers a couple of years back, we left the hotel planning to a mate of mine, said get something cheap, however not st, as we can stay in the travel lodge for not a lot. Sttayed at a local 'Inn', the kind named after an object that a king/qeen would wear on their head. Easily enough to find on tripadvisor.
The only thing good about the entire place was it had clean sheets.
Where to start, when we arrived there was what looked like a 3.14 lock openers wedding with them passed out in the halls, we were given a snapped key, shower & bathroom black with mould, railway bridge by our window, window was smashed, shower was cold & did'nt work, carpets torn up, walls / curtains black with grime, food in the carpet.
Went for brekkie, there was food up the walls, took about 20mins for tea & toast to arrive, bearing in mind we were the only ones in the dining room (they forgot our order).
Frozen breakfast.
Worse hotel i've ever had the displeasure of stepping foot in, from what other people say on tripadvisor, i'm not the only one!

Am I allowed to spin this thread to the best ever Hotel experience.

If so....

This place http://www.dalhousiecastle.co.uk/ for a mates wedding.

I have never been treated so well in my life.

Oh and the quick bunk up mid-reception with a rather randy co-attendee helped the matter no end.

Everything about that weekend was spot on.

No.
Especially since it's obviously a thinly veiled excuse to boast about once having sex. Go and start your own 'have you got lucky in a nice hotel thread?'.
wink

- I went to a friend's wedding there, sadly because we were poor we did not stay!

I'm generally quite accepting of hotels, low expectations on the whole. I've been very pleasantly surprised at almost everywhere I've stayed in Asia.

3 years ago in southern Turkey. None of the hotel staff spoke ANY English. ALL the guests were Russian.
For anyone who has never dealt with Russians count yourselves lucky, Germans are angels in comparison. The room was mucky and got cleaned twice in a week, the all inclusive food consisted of salty chicken and rice every night, even the deserts were salty. 2 of the guests were tarty late 20's russian females who seemed to know all the single males there. This confused us until we found out you could buy them for the night. They were the only entertainment.
All this whilst we were holidaying with a 1 year old (the next youngest person in the hotel was about 20)
To put the icing on the cake it rained for 2 days and I went swimming in the pool and caught a throat and ear infection.
I will try an dig out the reviews on trip advisor. hehe

I never wrote a review btw, but the bad ones are not far wrong.

Decided to head down to the Metro Centre for a change, and stayed in the closest Travelodge.

When we got in the room, I wondered what the residue was on the inside of our window - turns out someone had puked out the window of the room directly above ours and, as our room window had been open, everything had smeared down the inside of it.

Was bad enough walking into a room where it had happened, can only imagine being in the room at the time it happened!

No idea how the cleaning staff could miss something so obvious!

Got moved to another room and refunded the cost.

We went to Bruges (a lovely place) a while ago for a dirty weekend- we were 20 and had only been going out 6 months or so.

Knew we were in trouble when the taxi driver said he hadn't realised that "that" bar had rooms.

The toilet was in the fire escape.
The room was approx E50 but it was another E10 to use a bath or shower
the whole building stunk of overcooked cabbage
the lights in the 3 floor staircase didn't work
The bed was so wonky and cheap i slept on the floor for 2 nights
the breakfast was
being young we paid upfront- then i almost got arrested when i kicked off saying we were leaving after 2 nights. We got half our money back for the weeks stay.

The whole episode made me really angry, and for some reason it still puts me in a bad mood when i think of it- guess its because i felt like i was being taken for a ride, and that always annoys the hell out of me.

^^^ Thanks, you've jogged my memory.

Many moons ago, GF and I decided to be spontaneous and went to Paignton for a dirty weekend. Arrived fairly late on a Friday and unsurprisingly found accommodation a little limited.

Turned up at a small hotel which looked alright. Paid upfront (Yeah, yeah, I know) something like £100 for 2 nights. Utterly horrible. One of those over-shagpiled 80s rooms with a hugely lumpy bed, a bathroom which smelled like a swamp and a general air of despair.

Went out for an Indian meal, the worst I've ever had, punctuated with a "ping" from the kitchen microwave.

Agreed before the morning that we wouldn't be staying another night. Endured a terrible, stingy "Full English" breakfast including-and I kid you not- A SHOT glass of Tesco Value orange juice which was refilled in the manner of an emperor bestowing myrrh on a prophet.

Managed to get MOST of what we had payed back by making vague excuses about being called into work, etc. Still ended up paying about £60 for a night in Bates Motel. Paignton? Never again smile
