I'm off to France and Italy at the end of the month, so I was just about to order a Sanef Peage Transponder for the trip, and found this website:

Tolltickets.com

It appears they hire out the transponders needed for France and Italy, plus you can get a Swiss vignette from them, seems like quite a good price for occasional use, just wondered if anyone had heard/used them before?

I used them last year and just ordered my tag from them for this year. Would recommend them, with good German efficiency!

Seems a bit pointless when you can just order the transponder for France yourself without their extra charges.

The Swiss vignette can be easily bought at the border with a credit card.

For short term use it should work out much cheaper from Tolltickets. You can't get the Sanef transponder from France any more, unless you have a French bank account, you have to go through their UK partner, so the charges are slightly different.

To go through the UK Sanef office, it would cost 50 euros, although 20 of that is refundable when the tag is sent back, plus the toll cahrges.

Going through Tolltickets costs 7.90 euro, 0.25 euro charge each day you have it over 21 days plus a 9% surcharge on all tolls, so I'd have to have over 300 euros worth of tolls before it makes the UK Sanef option cheaper. I can also get an Italian transponder as well, which will be useful!

Swiss Vignette is much the same price as buying in Switzerland, so one less thing to worry about whilst on holiday.

I didn't know about that website. Not speaking French, I assume you don't need a French bank account going through that site, like you do via the Sanef site?

Credit card works fine. I got mine recently. They did charge me 10 Euro for delivery though.

Sounds good, I'll have to keep an eye on that site if I need a transponder next year, thanks!
