Looking to book a week away beginning of October.
Flying into Naples and hiring a car to see the sights nearby.

Stayed in Positano years ago, but thinking of going to Sorrento this time as its got a bit more there.

Any recommendations of anywhere else I should be considering or good hotels?

We honeymooned in Sorrento all those years ago. The main things I remember is that there were lots of old people there, the Hotel Conca Park was not great, Pompei and Vesuvius were cool, and EVERY car we saw had at least one battle-scar to prove it had played on the Italian roads.

Good luck!

Herculaneum is a small, quieter and better preserved version of Pompeii. Paestum (south down the coast past Salerno) has some of the best preserved temples in the world.

Also really worth visiting is Solfatara - the Gates of Hades

Thanks for the tips.

We have shortlisted it down to 2 hotels.

One is in Sorrento but charges 17euro per day for parking.
The other is out of town in Massa Lubrense but has free parking.

If we went for the place in Sorrento, is there any other parking options that would be cheaper?
We are definitly hiring a car as there are so many places we want to visit and like to freedom of being able to hop about as we please

Went to Amalfi/Naples last October..it was hot...biggrin

Recommend a trip to Monte Cassino and the war graves, also Rome/Florence if time permits.
