Hi folks. The good lady and I are off to Egypt in a few days, and have decided on a whim (after some pestering by me) to do a PADI OpenWater qualification while we're out there.

We're going to do the theory portion this weekend (before we head out), but are looking for some recommendations for booking a dive school before we go. Does anyone have any experience they would care to share? Price isn't a huge factor here, but we would like to make sure we are getting the best choices available to us.

Many thanks!

The OH and I did ours with Camel dive back in '97 and have been with them many times since; I think they're the pick of the bunch and certainly one of the longest established.

Is Sharm a set destination? I would thoroughly recommend http://www.redsea-divingsafari.org/.

Also why not do the confined section of your open water (5 dives in the swimming pool) before you go, that way you can avoid spending time doing pretty boring (but important) skills before you go and have maximum time actually diving! I can post more info if you like..

Edit; I see you have already sorted this.. definately the way to go! smile

Camel Diving worth a look, I got my padi with them in '86 and they are still there. Says something.

Emperor for me, dived with them a fair bit. Very good in my opinion.
