We are off to Rome for 5 days very soon. Got all the guide books etc swatted up on what to do and NOT to do.
If anyone has any nice restaurant recommendations or general tips please?

Cheers

Same tip I always give - don't buy expensive drinks but fill up water bottles from the numerous fountains.

You can get tickets for the Colosseum online to save you queuing.

Great city, love it.

Watch out for the pickpockets and gypsy girls. One trying to sell you a newspaper, whilst the other rips you off seems to be common.

Link to a previous thread which I've commented on in the past.

Lovely city and plenty to do.

Went recently and did the underground tour of the colosseum, can't recommend it highly enough (need to book in advance)

Get one of the many guides to take you around the roman forum, very awe inspiring

Drinks and lunch at pepys in barbarini square, and ice cream at "white" next door.

For dinner I'd choose a good family run place, everything else is over priced and pretty ordinary in comparison

Fantastic city

Not sure if it's still there, but Restaurant Baby, at the Aldrovandi Palace Hotel used to be wonderful.
2 Star, from memory.
