4hr wait(not 6) and use the standard form from the post office. You don't need the counter signed photo crap either if renewing in person.

Also, if your current passport is not expired, they will add unexpired time onto the new one, up to a maximum of 9 months.

Don't know who told you about a 2week wait though- for renewal you can have the next available appointment- did it myself a few months ago for renewing both of mine - made an appointment for the next day,and have done so for renewals before as I always use the same day service. Even the first time I made an appointment for my second passport I had an appointment within 48hrs.
Call back again - some of their staff arent too familiar with their own rules sometimes.

Have done it in London - very quick and efficient. I'd use it again because I can't really be without my passport for weeks on end.

What's the reason for not using the British Embassy in the Netherlands? (being nosey)

I renewed both my passports at Peterborough and it proved to be a very efficient service, no problems at all.

I've used this and found it to be very easy and straight forward.

I did this at the newport office a couple of years ago. Made the appointment, turned up the next day, handed over the paperwork and the money, killed 4 hours, job done.

And as said prevoiusly, by god what a miserable bunch. All of them had faces and attitudes like a slapped arse every step of the way.

Did it in London last year, process worked well but there is a process in place that removes the sense of humour from all staff.

I did Peterborough. Had to wait about 4/5 days for an appointment. 4 hour wait.

On contrast, I did not find the staff miserable - if you smile at them they are quite relieved to be able to smile back. Even the security chap was joking, when we started with the airport experience early.

Good service - does what it says on the packet. Shiny new passport same day.

Just done this for my gf at the London office; they advised 4 hour wait, we went back after 2 and a half and it was done smile

Not all the embassies renew passports now. To renew my passport in Qatar, I have to courier it to Germany believe it or not. Not sure if this is the case with the other Middle East countries or Europe.

That is exactly the gist of it. I did it at the Victoria passport office a few years back. Was an absolute doddle. Took myself off to look round Buck House to kill the time. There's even photo booths onsite so you don't have to sort that out beforehand.
