Currently looking at Thailand for a holiday next year and stumbled across the tours offered by www.thailandtravelplan.co.uk. Has anyone used them?

Thailand has to be one of the easiest places to organise travel and tours, do it yourself. Every hotel will be able to organise tours as well as the multitude of travel agents over there.

^This.

Pick up a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet.

Freestyle your trip while you're out there.

Thanks for the responses. It does seem that I should book flights and a hotel and just wing it when there. Was all set to go to Thailand then focused on Vietnam. Half tempted to take a month off work and go for a tour...

The perfect solution - it's a great part of the world to tour around.

There's no need to book a hotel to be honest. Maybe if you are arriving there late at night, book one night somewhere. If you arrive first thing in the morning, get the bus/taxi into Bangkok then sort out your entire trip with a TAT office. They can arrange everything for you, cheaper than doing it through a UK agent. They probably take a bit of a cut but mig be worth it if its your first time there. Next time we go we'll book flights then do it ourselves there. Easy to do as the guys above have said.

Is the TAT office the Thai equivalent of Tourist Information?

Exactly that - Tourist Authority Thailand.
