Hi I'll be flying to Canada tomorrow and will then be driving into the USA after a couple of days there. Now as far as I know I don't need a visa to do this as I'll be crossing the border by land? However a few people have said I will need one. Can anybody enlighten me on this? I'm a uk citizen by the way. Is it just a case of when I get to the border I will be quizzed about what I plan to do etc and have to fill in a form?
Thankyou.

Correct, you do not need a visa to enter the USA overland or otherwise. Being a UK citizen, you are probably eligible to utilize VWP and as a result, use I-94W at the border.

Thankyou very much. So I'll just turn up at the border on the day and fill in the forms there and then?
Cheers.

The Canadian side will probably just wave you through with a wave and a smile. They are nice like that. The US side like their uniforms, and shiny badges, and make you well aware of the fact.
