Seem to recall reading on here somewhere about getting room upgrades in Vegas. Was it displaying part of a $20 bill and asking if there is a room promo available?

Hand over the $20 inside your passport while checking in and ask if there are any complementary upgrades available, works better in some hotels than others.

I've just got back from Vegas and only read about this after I'd checked into our hotel. We got a lovely room (at the MGM Grand) but the view was crap, so presumably that'd be the difference. Considering we only used the the room for pooing and sleeping, I was happier putting that £12 into the bar or slot machine

That said, I'm not sure I'd have the balls to try it anyway, even though it does seem extremely common.
