So I've decided to get my finger out and try to get this trip booked. I've noticed in other threads that there are some regulars here who've been out there several times-someone has a place out there if memory serves correctly?

Spent a bit of time trying to find agreeable flights, initially they were either mega expensive or had a few stops with ridiculous layover times. We're in the NW so no direct flights seem to be available at that time of year (end of March/early April) so at least one stop needed. Best price I've got is Manc to Vancouver via Amsterdam.

Initial plan was to fly into Calgary and hit Banff etc (where I trained to be an instructor many moons ago)then take a domestic flight to Vancouver, but just going to be too much flying not to mention the extra costs. We're limited to the very end of March as we got married last year we used up allot of leave and the OH's new leave doesn't kick in until the 1st April. The excuse for the trip is that we're going to go and visit my OH's aunt who lives on Vancouver Island, we like to ski otherwise we'd be leaving it until the summer but due to the leave situation my wife won't get a chance to ski this winter in Europe (my leave year is different so I have plenty).

We'll have around 3 weeks to play with. Initial thought is to fly into Vancouver, and maybe spend a couple of nights there to get over the jetlag or just head straight up to Whistler maybe a night a the airport depending on flight times. We can either get a coach up to Whistler or pick up a hire car that we'll need for later in the trip, it may seem like a bit of a waste to have a car to sit for a week or so while we ski though this may be offset by the cost of a return journey on a coach etc. Might also look at spending some time at Sun Peaks too.

Other than Vancouver what else should we allow time for-allowing that the driving conditions may not be great. Any accommodation tips for Whistler? The lift pass is expensive and I've heard the worst way to get it i.e. most expensive is to go direct to the ticket office. Ski wise I'll be expecting spring conditions and all that goes with it, ideally we'd be going a month earlier. My OH is a strong intermediate and can handle some off piste, she also like to take an afternoon/morning or day off sometimes which allows me to get a guide.

Any advice welcome.

Cheers
