LAME COMO OR GARDA?
Discussion
Been to Garda as a child. Can't comment on Como.
Don't think I've ever been to a more beautiful part of the world. It's just lovely around there and within close proximity of the Alps and the great passes around there too.
Food wasn't amazing and the variety of places to eat isn't great but you'll find some gems I'd imagine. Anywhere with a view onto the lake is good enough in reality.

That will be a fun trip in a Caymen lots of great roads around there.

Anyone been to both lakes?, if so is one a better option than the other ?, we are going to Garda next month but have read various reports regarding Garda being very touristy , just wanted your views...
I've been to Maggiore and Como once, Garda twice. I'd go to Garda a third time before either of the others for a second time.Stayed in Como a couple of years back. Very very pleasant. It will be touristy however come summer time. Some photos from my Euro write up:

Day 9 & 10
Miles on the clock: 163482
Locations: Aulla to Lake Como & Lake Lugano day trip
Total miles: 243
The Italian adventure continued with a drive to the Italian Lakes, more specifically Lake Como. A lovely part of the world with genuinely beautiful scenery. Yes, there are tourist traps (you can see the SAGA coaches a mile off) but choose the right places for lunch and dinner and it is a very very pleasant experience and you need not interact with any other English tourists. Not too shabby for photos either!
We did a short day trip to Switzerland to visit Lake Lugano. I forgot how clean Switzerland is. I also forgot (much to the detriment of my wallet) how expensive it is!

Here's the thing,I have been to both but also to Lake Maggiore which was by far the best
I also enjoyed Lake Maggiore more than Como (haven't been to Garda).Stresa was a good place to stay and good trips out from there. Como was very busy and hard to park.
Has anyone been to Italy this year? If so, what's the cost like?
We went to Amalfi the year before last and it was breathtakingly expensive, which seemed to be due to the Italian economy, exchange rate and tendency for local businesses to increase prices as a response to having fewer customers.
